Advocacy At Its Best
6 08 2007All…
This is an archive story dating back to early 1990’s. Apologies to persons who do not know sign language. There is no full text on that story. Basically it harks to the outreach days where Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing with me representing PUC did a blitz for Texas. This is a story about mainstreamed day program at Waco where deaf children called their hearing parents (unbeknownest to hearing parents) and how parents wept and rejoiced over this event.
eyes open and thumbs up,

I was cried after the girl’s mother. I have no reason to cry for over one silly. but That’s good to educating everyone. NO matter what! It is really touchy for me.
Something that the advocate need teach to hearing parents or any of clinic or anyplace.

Hi Ed!
What a powerful message! I enjoyed listening your story in regarding of the unveiling communication bridge between a deaf child and his/her parents with their tearing expression.
I enjoy viewing your previous vlogs to share your perspectives, providing of technical information on relay services, and deaf culture. Keep vlogging!
Take care,
Nick Vera
thanks for sharing! Yes, it touched my heart! I had tears! Unfortunately, my parents in law do not communicate with my husband growing up. Now this new Technology, VRS and TTy relay.. they do not take advantage of that technology to know their son. Yes. this is a big advocate for that child and her parents. Im sharing this with my Deaf community class.
