With the IP and VRS calls are increasing — it’s bypassed NECA’s projected for minutes and cost. It seems NECA had to pay $8M more than planned. I don’t envy NECA’s difficult job — they’re trying their best to forecast the cost.

Yep - all this is good news - really. It means we deafies and hard of hearies are becoming more technologically sophisticated. RAH - YEAH! The unfortunate “side effects” is the cost of Internet-enabled relay services. Seriously, I am one of those strong proponent that Internet-enabled relay services actually are CHEAPER in the long run - considering the benefits these services have given back to America. More tax are gathered from a great many deaf and hoh persons who have upped their income cuz of these services. RAH - YEAH!

That said, of course, it does not mean that Internet-enabled relay service can charge whatever they well please ;-] Has to be fair price.

Issue: Should Video Phones be distributed FREE or be sold by VP Providers or VP manufacturers?

RETAIL because purchasing will empower deaf/hoh and purchasing force them to take care of their VPs (30%, 55 Votes)
FREE because of inequity between deaf and hearing in accessing telephone network (24%, 45 Votes)
RETAIL because I don't want welfare mentality and we need to get out of that (16%, 29 Votes)
FREE because I like FREE and do not want to purchase several different VPs (14%, 25 Votes)
FREE because VRS providers can afford them, and I can't (10%, 19 Votes)
RETAIL because too many free VPs and a few in closets not in use (6%, 11 Votes)
