Click to this link, scroll down, and read and u will get an insight into how New Zealand handle TRS issues. It is interesting to note that VRS is in the plan, and implies that VRS is not free and that VRS users may have to pay portion of the VRS. We’re blessed to be in America. At the same time, I applaud NZ for taking the initiative.

Governor Perry named Barry Smitherman of Austin as a new Chairman of the Texas Public Utility Commission. Governor replaced Paul Hudson (past chairman) per Hudson’s request that a new chair be named. Hudson will continue to be a Commissioner.
Barry
Barry T. Smitherman has served on the PUC since 2004. He is a fourth generation Texan. Smitherman will continue to brings in wealth of experience and undoubtedly will make significant contributions as he had during his tenure as a Commissioner.

This is a GREAT News. A group of influental congressmen are setting a fire under the FCC to act on the pending two dockets. Click and rejoice.
Energy and Commerce
The two dockets are: one the ability of VRS providers to offer enhanced 911 services to the deaf and hoh. The second one is about numbering issues that would make it possible for VRS users to communicate with each other.
The letter is asking the FCC to complete these two dockets within specified times. If the FCC is not able to do this, then the Congressmen want it in writing why the FCC cannot do this.
I bet that the FCC can feel fire under its feet right now ;-] but it also puts pressure on VRS providers as well. So the FCC is not the only one with fire under its feet, VRS providers are feeling the heat from the fire, too.
