I didnt like the ad being shown prior to the game show.. I d rather have it during some of the tv commericals during the game time. A lot of people werent ready at the TV just yet and like me I missed it but was able to see the ad on website. People like me were gathering food and drinks and settling down before the players ran out to the field. I was disappointed and a lot of my friends said they watched the whole game just to see this ad and wasnt aware it came on just before the start of the SuperBowl pgrm came on. Next time my advice is to have it when u know every one is there watching the game at least the population wld be still at the tube. It was a cute ad though.

Ed,
Don't recall her title as I deleted her email response. Found her after I did some navigating through PepsiCo website the other day. I see you did send an email but someone else responded. Great!

I'll have to ponder this for a while and may get back to you. But I'm going to write and thanks PepsiCo (that's the name of the parent company) for doing the TV advertisement during the pre-game -- so we're outreaching to the mass public of our long-time jokes. Surely, PepsiCo will appreicate that even I didn't mention the closed captioning sponsor.

Your thought?

David,

I understand where you are coming from. Does network charge for voice use? Of course, they don't. On other hand, politically speaking if we show our appreciation to the Pepsi Company for TV Adv and even closed captioning en masse, it becomes more likely that in the future the Pepsi Company may even consider sponsoring the NAD conference or as you said deaf-related special events. I would say it behooves on the deaf groups/organizations/clubs/whatever to make the aggressive approach to the Pepsi Company for such sponsorship. If the Pepsi Company got distinct impression that they now have adoring deaf/hoh communities on their side, they'll be more likely to sponsor deaf-related events.

Just offering an alternative perspective of this...

Ed, I'm not too sure if I'm in favor of P epsi or any company sponsoring closed captioning of Super Bowl. The network (Fox??) can afford it themselves, after all, they're making MILLIONS of dollars from selling advertisements. I would rather Pepsi sponsors NAD's Conference in New Orleans or one of deaf-related special events (i.e. National Leadership Training).

I think the days of sponsoring closed captioning for network's shows are long over.
