GoAmerica Writes A Letter to SorensonVRS

18 03 2008

All

CEO of GoAmerica, Dan Luis, wrote a letter to CEO of SorensonVRS, Pat Nola, to urge Sorenson’s assistance to collaborate in toto with all other VRS providers to push for one technology solution for Uniform Numbering and 911 Emergency Service as soon as possible.

Remember that GA bought Verizon IP and Relay Service as well as HOVRS.  So that means GA now is a major player in the world of TRS.

Click to the link and read this public letter (this letter was in several websites).   Basically GA is saying that now GA is involved in VRS as well as Relay Service, that they would like to try and colloborate with Sorenson to reach common goals that are desired by the VRS/Relay Users.

GoAmerica Letter to Sorenson

GoAmerica deserves a round of flying hands up in the air for writing this letter.

I know I speak for everyone that we want to see Uniform Numbering implemented as soon as humanly possible and to have access to emergency services where they would instantly recognize who and where the person is calling from.  I just learned that Sorenson responded to the GoAmerica Letter.   I hope someone will post the letter or let me know of a link so I can post for y’all to read.

Clarification:

GoAmerica purchased Verizon IP-Relay, and merged with HOVRS. GoAmerica didn’t purchase HOVRS.

Just wanted you to be aware of this…

Correction: GoAmerica bought out Verizon’s relay services then merged with HOVRS.

Sorenson is endangering the safety of thousands of videophone callers because Sorenson refuses to open their directory - a step that is necessary for us to take advantage of enhanced 911 (e911) calls. This feature is available to hearing callers–not to the deaf.

Somebody please tell George Adams….
we can’t access that attached response. It’s on his personal computer.

Where can I find the link - letter written by GA to Sorenson?

Ok, I stand corrected about “merging” with HOVRS. Although, the appearance of it sure looks like it was bought. The old CEO of HOVRS got something like 35 million dollars for that.

“Sorenson the suffocator”,

I’m not defending Sorenson, but Sorenson did publically support Uniform Numbering system which to me means that once the FCC decides on a system for Uniform Numbering, Sorenson will no longer use its proxy directory.

I can’t wait for that to happen; once that happens each of VRS and Interent Relay Users will be able to call each other and hearing persons will be able to use the phone number to call you thru VRS (your preference).
