16 07 2009All..
Julius Genachowski is now the new FCC Chair as of June 29, 2009. Read the links to get to know him bit better.
Jay Rockfellar’s Challenge to new FCC Chair
Above link with quotable quotes; from Rockefeller: "..needs to “fix” the agency because it has “shortchanged” consumers," Another quotable quote from same person: "“Prove to us that the FCC can put consumers first.”
Hey, does not these quotable quotes look familar lately? Lately we see lot of that in edsalert, and from wonderful commentators!
Another quotable quote from Genachowski is “a commitment throughout the agency to principles of openness, fairness, fact-based decision- making.”
Julius Genachowski’s email address is: Julius.Genachowski@fcc.gov
Be sure to send him a congratulatory email and add your anecdtoes on how wonderful and liberating relay services have been. What you can say about VRS is that you’re glad to see that the FCC is finally going to clean up the mess and look forward to having VRS return to consumers. Do it in your own words, though – has better impact than form letters. Form letters are counted, while personal ones are read and counted. Big difference there. Don’t worry about your English.
eyes open & thumbs up,
Ed

Ed,
Agreed to your comments about encouraging FCC to continue in supporting VRS. But what about CC issues? I know it is not in your best territory but we should encourage FCC to do more with CC, too.
Cliff
Clifford,
Absolutely – heed Cliff’s suggestion and add to the email content to the FCC regarding Closed Captioning – specifically say very glad to have CC, but need CC for Internet Media News as well like CNN, Fox, etc. of the video news clips.
eyes open & thumbs up…
Ed,
Many thanks for encouraging deaf individuals with self-conscious about their English writing skills to DO the letter-writing.
I often tell too many deaf people that their writing skills are really GOOD and FINE as compared to hearing people’s awful English writing skills. They seems getting that kind of self-negatation from their schools and deaf peers that our deaf people’s English writing skills are NO GOOD (NG). That is total crap!
I often assure too many deaf people that my English writing skill is not really perfect. I keep practicing and polishing mine everyday no matter that I am 44 years old now.
THANKS A ZILLION TIMES!
