FCC Announces Workshop for VRS Reform

FCC will hold a workshop on Dec 17 from 2 pm to 5 pm at the FCC’s headquarter at Washington, DC, located at 445 12th St., SW. Workshop is primary for public and the purpose of workshop is to gather feedback from the public on the following list:
One: VRS should be a choice of competitive service – like it is now or VRS be provided via competitive bidding (like Request for Proposal to select one or a few VRS providers);
Two: Payment that is fair, and information open to all.
Three: Set up procedures to stop illegal VRS calls, and technical procedures changed to help resolve interoperability, ten-digit number and make sure emergency call handling are done right.

Personally I think Dec 17 is a bad timing being so close to Christmas holiday, but it is an opportunity for Public to give their input. So vent away your wishes, thoughts, analysis, rants, raves, etc.

Would be nice to have a first-hand observation of the meeting. I know there’s the webcast, but it won’t capture the people sitting behind the scenes, the idle chatter amongst them, the general consensus of its participants, etc.

Why don’t you email FCC to see if you can have an opportunity to post questions or comments via your webcam — just like a conference call — I believe the hearing webnar allows outside to voice into the webnar system.

Shoot, I won’t be able to attend the workshop since I have the commitment to attend the MD SC Holiday Dinner as well as being in the Holiday program after dinner from 10:30 AM to 4 PM. Although, I would love to be there to learn more about VRS Reform. Enjoy your stay in DC if you are going to be there!
