Ed,
It appears that there will be several new and exciting products and programs offered using wireless access. With the increase in TRS services due to ease of access afforded by the new wireless products do you beleieve there will be further burden on the funds for payment. Additionally, since only one or two operators will be able to offer these new services, due to contracts with underlying carrier agreements, does the FCC need to mandate new requirements and tariff rates for those services?
Does this have something to do with the upcoming Apple’s 4th generation iPhone and Sprint’s HTC EVO? Both will be coming out with front-facing webcam to enable live-streaming video chats.
Where? D.C. Area?
Jack,
“..further burden on TRS Fund..” I hope that FCC and federal considers the huge benefits of accessibility for deaf/hoh. Traditional TRS and VRS already have shown enormous tax revenue from these providers as well as from deaf/hoh who have good paying jobs simply because of the services.
On new tariffs, etc. I would presume not. Should be the same as whatever the tariffs, etc are for hearing persons.
It is true, though, that the years 2010 and 2011 are gonna see lot of changes in TRS/VRS AND general telecommunication industry.
Peachlady,
[grinning] -I just added link to the post. It is at DC area.
Hmm,
Oh, I don’t know for sure. Maybe it is just that FCC has been in contact with telephone industry and has a good feel of the future.
Work shop at D/FW as I only cross my fingers.
HI Ed, thank you for your great service keeping us in touch with the update news. In regard to the workshop on “FCC Workshop On Expanding Disability Access”, Is there any possible access to the workshop for everyone on any video live streaming or posted video webcam/ transcript?
Thankyou, Ed
Wonders,
It did not say on the Public Notice whether this will be done or not. It did say contact Pamela Gregory – so u might try that and see if the services you hoped for are provided or not.
