Introduction/VRS Rates
15 11 2012Folks,
I've decided to take a different approach on this post. There will be no text in this one (future ones will continue to have text).
Enjoy the video clip and please feel free to comment on the VRS Rates.

PS: for those who do not know sign language; captioning is available now.

Did some searching in the Dockets. Here's a couple of notable comments:

I have already read the Sorenson comment. It's a doozy. Lots of reading in the next few days…
Thanks to both of you. You did a great job of expressing the general concerns while still talking about your company in a positive light and commenting on the possible effects on video relay services in general. This is very impressive. (I hope somebody from the FCC listens to you! )

Thanks, Terpgirl,
Truth be told, video interpreters and deaf/hh have symbiosis relationship. Without each other we would not survive. So it behooves on us deaf/hh to be sensitive to video interpreters's needs and concerns while video interpreters are likewise sensitive to our needs and concerns. Obviously, I am biased, but I am proud to say that video interpreters from Convo and deaf/hh have excellent relationship.

This is a useful link, provided by Gallaudet's RERC-TA;
http://tap.gallaudet.edu/cvogler/VRSReform/
In a nutshell, it allows you to find individual comments in a virtual sea of comments currently flooding Docket #10-51.
Thanks for taking the time to do this and making it clear what is going on. Please keep this up and continue to keep us in the loop. FCC PN can be trickly and difficult to read.
SVRS vlogs has caused more confusions. You both (convo) make it simple and clear!

Just wondered if you make a loss VRS operation, how do you continue run the business? As Robin said $4 loss but continue the service HOW? I do own a business so I know if the customer cant pay then dont take the job.

Steve,
The key here is the cash-flow which can help keep companies afloat. However, you are right. If this loss continues for a long time, it will hurt. I believe the FCC fully understands the dilemma of small VRS providers and hopefully the tiered rates will help the small ones.
eyes open & thumbs up..
Cousin Vinny,
Thanks for the links.
eyes open & thumbs up..
I see, thanks for the response. Yeah, small ones vrs are hard to keep up with all the overhead costs. As we know svrs own somewhere 80% of the market. I agree with someone said that service and equipment are tied together now and that is how svrs is controls the business. Just like the old days of ATT. Since the equipments and services split things changed.
Will see how thing turn out.
